Approach Paper

Knowledge has been going through unending process of evolution ever since the growth of human civilization. It has shaped and re-shaped the society. Knowledge is power and ignorance is weakness. Fertility of mind for quest of knowledge has been the chief characteristic of man ever since the inception of human civilization. Production, dissemination and adoption of knowledge remained as the cornerstone of social dynamism in all ages. Today we are living in a world of global interdependence. Access to knowledge and information, innovation and collaboration as well as development of skill and expertise has become the chief characteristics of a vibrant society. But these characteristics continuously, though slowly, worked in the pre-modern society also. Knowledge has crossed through different contours and phases in its evolution. The focus of the proposed Conference is to investigate into the concept, philosophy and dimensions of knowledge in dominating civilizations in Asia from pre-modern to modern times. The following sub-themes will further define the areas within the scope of this conference.
